Honestly, the previous middle east wars were bi-partisan productions, as is the current one. (See recent congressional approval). Beyond that, how each war is conducted can be analyzed.

More than a few retired generals and military experts have said that starting a war by spelling out all the things we "won't" do; is a recipe for disaster. Re: boots on the ground. ISIS is already reconfiguring to adapt to the air attacks. Arguably, the current Obama plan will be just enough to dramatically increase ISIS recruitment.

Nothing makes Republicans happier than getting to go to war. Unless, THEY don't get to start It. They screech about the current POTUS not being a warmonger and then get miffed when he makes warlike overtures.

Thank God the US is not under the evil Cheney influence.

It's okay according to liberals when a democrat sends the US to war. Remember how they approved of Bush ridding the world of a genocidal leader. And let us also not forget about Vietnam – you remember Kennedy and Johnson's war.

Each time a liberal tries to blame Bush for his invasion in the Middle East based on lies, the standard conservative response is to point how many liberal legislators actually voted in favor of said invasion

Something has to be done. I just hope we pick our friends carefully.

Our president knows what he's doing, that mob of goons doesn't have a chance. The occasional wanna be idiot in the us might be a problem, but just for a minute or two.

Yet again, it's easy for the leaders to go to war when it's not their family who have to go and lose loved ones. We have no business in this war. We wonder why we are so hated. Who will help us when we finally bankrupt and need help? NO ONE because we are the most hated nation on the planet. I would even go as far to bet our allies would bail on helping us if we truly needed help. You find out who your friends are when you need them. WE need to stop policing the world. the UK and EU are more than capable of handling this issue. WE can afford anymore. enough is enough and I don't want to hear how people signed up for this, Yes they did! Most signed up for college money or for various reasons. We've got to stay home and stay out of things for a change. That money can be better spent here on our infrastructure such as roads, power grid upgrades and lots of other things we are forced to do without because of all these wars we have to pay billions for! and to think about the jobs it would create to help our own people!!!

Many different islamist factions, including the so-called moderate rebels that Obama wants to give weapons to; have been cutting off heads over there. It goes way beyond the media hype over ISIS and the three journalists.

Obama's underlying goal is to topple Assad in Syria. Which will complete the so-called Arab Spring; for the muslim brotherhood.

Obama had to do something. When those goons started chopping off heads the American people demanded action. I think he was fearful that they will attack us here. They could have slipped across the border and are now waiting to kill us here in our streets. Our border being opened and the pressure for him to build a fence would have been the topping on the cake. He still owes the anti-war bunch for their votes. Thats a big base of voters for the Dems.

Actually, it is that simple. Especially when they have established their own state. The problem is the politicians won't let the military do what is required to wipe them off the face of the earth
