I would still shake hands with Mr. Tillis but I would use hand sanitizer after.

Mommo you hit hit the nail on the head. Just don't expect them to acknowledge it.

If them not washing their hands is the worse thing that happens in restaurants then I'm a happy camper.

okay.....if he had used the example I used instead, then could you then see that there's a value in what he's saying.

"I'm sure they are all liberal."

You say that without even looking? Talk about a blanket statement!

I'm sure they are all liberal.

Why don't yall like Tillis anyway? Is it because he's white? Yall are racist.

A quick search found about a dozen media outlets that are carrying this story quoting Tillis. Among them are the NY Times, Chicago-Sun Times, Washington Post.

I didn't say I supported it. That's nasty. I just don't trust the link provided as it is a liberal leaning website. It's all about sources remember.

Maybe its just that the hand washing is a bad spur of the moment example. What if there are people that want to make legislation that requires those in food prep services industries have mandatory paid time off for sickness, etc. That's kind of a leap to make every mom and pops restaurant give paid sick time. But, restaurants that don't give paid sick time MAY be more likely to have sick people working. So, maybe Tillis is saying he would come closer to supporting legislation that forces that employer to post that they don't give paid sick days as opposed to forcing them to do so. That way the consumer can decide if it affects their decision on where to eat.

Trailer Trash Tillis and his band of sniffers. Why do sniffers hate America? Do you miss Hagan yet?

Skeptic, let me ask you this...why would you support regulation requiring restaurants to notify their customers that their workers do not wash their hands and not support a regulation requiring those workers to wash their hands? Is a regulation not a regulation? Wouldn't you fall on the side that would potentially keep customers from being exposed to any number of diseases?

If he said that. You answered your own question.

Skeptic, I think it's YOU who doesn't understand...without the regulation, how will customers know Big Jim doesn't wash his hands but Big Bob does? And, that's what Tillis is saying...he doesn't support regulation requiring food service industry workers to wash their hands, but, at the same time, supports a regulation which requires those businesses opting out to inform their customers they don't wash.

Thankfully, most of the restaurants in northwestern NC require their male employees to wash up after visiting the facilities; I know: I've seen the posters.

I guess I will have to explain it to you guys. You see if Big Jim doesn't require hand washing but Big Bobs does then people will go to Big Bobs instead of Big Jims. You see business owners do understand this and that's why the regulation is not needed. That's the point he was trying to make. But hey sniffers gonna sniff.

Boy, I would LOVE to be in charge of the marketing campaign for that one. "Come on down to Big Jim's Barbecue Jamboree...we don't wash our hands!" Seriously, what company is going to advertise their employees don't wash their hands?
