sorry Top Soil, i understood what you meant in the beginning but was too fixed on my own thoughts..... yes i totally agree.

And I find that view of this law to be far worst than discrimination.

From 1047 "As i said this world is not our home, if you have not accepted Christ as saviour, this is your home, it is up to you to keep it livable for yourselves."

Then why do the religious keep inserting themselves into the laws of the nation?

LOL that's your argument. That can be said about every business/corporation in this country.

Did you know that corporations are taxed as an individual? But wait they are just buildings right.

Here's what I say to churches, when you start paying taxes then get involved in politics.

The church is not the building it is the people, and as such they pay all the same taxes that you pay.

You can believe whatever you want, But at lease recycle, turn off your appliances when not in use, and conserve water.
And I will try to keep the taxes paid up on my on my property so whoever gets it when we leave will not have a back tax bill to pay.

top soil, i understand the current laws but was drifting to the notion that once religion is a deciding factor of business transactions ... how far away are we from allowing religion to then dictate all business transactions? what was once labeled as discrimination is now just an individual being allowed to exercise their beliefs.

My point isn't with discrimination based on religious grounds, but that the government passed a law that exempts them from having to follow laws. While you and every other citizen of the state still have to follow the laws that they write.

So you are telling us you follow ALL the laws in Leveticus?
It's funny that we don't see Christians picketing seafood joints or even clothing stores that sell clothes manufactured from two types of cloth.

We don't see people refusing service to divorcees.

The law was intended to keep sinful people from corrupting themselves to the point of no return, The same is true today. The problem with the law is it could not redeem it could only bring judgment. Christ only can redeem and bringing an end to the law for the born again child of God, washed in the blood of Christ, and make us heirs to a new home wherein there is no unrighteousness. As i said this world is not our home, if you have not accepted Christ as saviour, this is your home, it is up to you to keep it livable for yourselves.

and why stick with just marriage licenses? why would any devout person want to sell real estate, clothing, food, or autos to a sinful people?

The law only allows the government from having to follow the laws they make,

citizens still have to follow the anti-discrimination laws, and the constitution.

That new law allowing people not to issue marriage licences to because of religious beliefs is amazing. When the first Mormon decides not to allow any non-Mormon's to be married, or a Jewish person decides it is against his/her personal religious beliefs to marry anyone who is not Jewish, a vegetarian Wiccan decides not to marry any meat eaters because they will procreate more meat eaters which is against their religion, or even a Gay man from the Metro church who believes that there are too many heterosexual people who harass everyone else and God told them not to allow them to procreate refuses them a licence, a Muslim person who believes that their religion dictates that anyone who is not Muslim should not be married, a Baptist who believes that Jesus said anyone who gets married after a divorce, is an adulterer,so they will not anything to do with it, or a Christian who decides no black people who are the mark of Cain, should be married, or a Christian who feels it is against their religion to mix races so they cannot be married.

This is gonna be fun to sit back and watch, until you think about our state defending this insanity to the Supreme Court, using taxpayer money. That part is a bit sad, and anyone who is inconvenienced.
you went a lot further out on a limb than i would go. when this became a topic what came to my mind was premarital sex. what if a marriage license was denied to any person that has premarital sex? or to people that are living together before marriage?

So, besides allowing a government officials religion trump the equal rights of a civilian.

Lets remove religion from this bill so we can see just how absurd it really is.

This bill, written by the government, gives them an exception allowing them to refuse to uphold the states constitution and laws that the people they govern have to obey.

"Do as I tell you to do, but not as I do". Government is just another way to say "Better than you."

Whether or not you support same-sex marriage, This law is a slap in the face. Notice that this law doesn't allow the citizen to use their deeply held beliefs to exempt themselves from having to follow the law of the land. It only lets government employees refuse to follow the laws.

1047, are against a magistrate marrying divorcees?

Hepsibah (view profile)

I do not think that magistrates refuse to perform same-sex marriage because of "sincerely held religious values."

Bigotry is NOT a religious value.
Let us just say if God said it I believe it. This world is not my home, If you want to turn your home into a scrambled mess that is up to you.

Bigotry
intolerance toward those who hold different opinions from oneself.

Wow, this seems to be the norm on GW
