Anyone with half a brain knows you can pour a can of gas into a stranded car in about two minutes. Whereas it takes hours to charge an EV plus you have to have an electric outlet to plug it into.
First off, if the hypothetical people in the blizzard could walk to a gas station, why couldn't they just stay there?
Anyone with a full brain (hahaha) can see that there are portable chargers available for EVs...
They can get enough of a charge in 20 minutes to go about 100 miles. And while, yes, 20 minutes is longer than it takes to fill up your car with gas, it's unlikely that they would need to charge enough to go 100 miles in a blizzard, either.
Say sometime in the future, the smog situation gets so bad that people with heart and respiratory diseases are unable to get a hospital bed. Well, it happened in the past and Los Angeles and London had to take draconian measures to reduce the omissions.

"Say sometime in the future, most vehicles on the roads are gas powered. What's the plan when hundreds of them get stranded in a blizzard for a couple of days and people run out of gas using the heater to keep warm?"
- Charles Ingalls on the increased popularity of gas powered vehicles, circa 1890
Say sometime in the future, most vehicles (including semis) on the roads are electric. What's the plan when hundreds of them get stranded in a blizzard for a couple of days and people drain their batteries using the heater to keep warm?
A study by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency ... concluded that EVs are 20 times less likely to catch fire than petrol and diesel cars.
With data corroborated from a US insurer, the study found that EVs suffer 25 fires per 100,000 sold.
Petrol or diesel vehicles were found to experience 1,530 fires per 100,000, with hybrid vehicles at a notably higher risk of 3,475 fires per 100,000"""".
DumbBell has his little song and dance every time there's an incident involving an EV, and yet they're stilling making 'em and selling 'em. Haven't the manufacturers and the purchasers got enough savvy to consult DB before they continue down this road of futility. Why is it that manufacturers like Mercedes and Cadillac and millions of consumers can't recognize the fact that DB and his ilk are far more knowledgeable than they?
the newscaster says "increasingly popular EVs" I am seeing increasingly unpopular EVs as people begin seeing the true costs of these monstrosities.
So popular dealers can't give them away
My partners neighbors garage went up in flames last week because the battery blew up whilst charging.Old man loses a car and half a house yetif he had his 1990 corolla im sure everything would have been fine
It's obscene that these incendiary devices were allowed on the road without a proper plan to deal with the fire risks.
People should ALL be paying attention to this. EV's are dangerous, in many ways. You could survive a crash in one, but be quickly burned alive before help arrives.
