I don't think that's the case, heps. I think that people opposed to gay marriage don't want society to speak in their name when extending approval to a union / lifestyle they find objectionable.

Great question. What is boils down to is that some people (Group A) do not want others (Group B) to have what they need in order to be happy. Group A wants Group B to be happy with what Group A wants, or just go away.
Since that is not possible, Group A doesn't think Group B has a real reason to be happy. Group B has finally received legal precedent to pursue happiness.
Group A is resentful of Group B's happiness, since Group A is full of bigots.

Enjoy what you like ,back in the 1800s you could go to the Drug store and get a Cola and tell them to dope it and they would put a pinch of cocaine in it, or buy it on the street from a traveling Salesmen call wonder drugs ,will heal anything

Ask any recovering drug addict. They will tell you that they are still drug addicts even if they have not taken as much as an aspirin in fifty years. They say they will die a drug addict.

One last comment. Neither of your examples are illegal in this day and time and their lifestyles are not hurting anyone, except maybe those who are afraid of their own insecurities. Why else would anyone object to someone else's business to simply give and receive love, companionship, equality, life, happiness? I am trying to wrap this around my brain, why would anyone want someone else to be unhappy?

If you were capable and willing to discuss the point; the logical underpinnings for granting constitutional rights for h*mosexuals and other sexual predispositions to pursue their desires...could and should be granted to other activities now deemed illegal. Agree or disagree?

I believe he is trying, and very hard at that, to kick me in the ribs. If one chooses to "partake" of something against the law, such as drinking and driving, and they get caught, or have a wreck and kill someone or seriously injures someone, then they must pay the price. Even though alcoholism is also a disease. It is an addiction.
