Here come another cry from Gays for a O-BozoCare Subsidy !!!!
According to data from the San Francisco Department of Public Health, there were 359 new H.I.V. infections in the city in 2013, 86 percent of them among men who have sex with men. Authorities including the World Health Organization and San Francisco's health department say they believe that PrEP is a good strategy to cut new infections among gay men.
But PrEP has been slow to catch on. According to data from the city, there were fewer than 1,000 active prescriptions for Truvada as PrEP in San Francisco at the end of 2013.
On Thursday, the board will hold a hearing about increasing that number. David Campos, a supervisor who like Mr. Wiener is openly gay, will introduce a resolution directing the city's health department to develop a plan by December that "addresses the educational and affordability issues" around Truvada. In particular, he and Mr. Wiener are focused on bringing down costs for people who would like to be on PrEP but can't afford it.

The lesbian women make up for the gay men in terms of risk, since there has only been 1 documented case of female to female HIV.

This is about human rights, not some backwoods notion of what right may be. These same people use to drag African Americans through the street for drinking water out of the same fountain, I really don't take much notice to what offends them.

Kenny you cant make that prediction and to do so is narrow minded just like you. Cheating in a marriage has been going on for more years than 5x your weight.

Alonzo you're preaching against HIV, which none of us like, not gay marriage. When gay marriage causes HIV cases to increase by a large number, then you can preach, but it won't.

$1000 a month for prevention pill. If normal people were faced with having to pay that much per month, or alternatively curbing selfish risky practices, a large percentage would change their ways.
Instead, the gays are clamoring for free drugs, just so guys like Mr. Wiener can stick their wieners where they don't belong.
Here's an enlightening clip from the article...
According to data from the San Francisco Department of Public Health, there were 359 new H.I.V. infections in the city in 2013, 86 percent of them among men who have sex with men.
Mr. Wiener pays just a $15 monthly co-payment under his city-provided health plan.

So shouldn't some of those high costs be borne by those whose behavior increases the risk?

And the out of pocket expense for someone with HIV/AIDS can greatly out-weigh that cost.

Maybe you missed it. Under obamacare, smokers can pay up to a 50% penalty for smoking.

alonzo harris | The World Health Organization has thrown its weight behind a controversial strategy for curbing the spread of HIV/AIDS: Today the organization strongly recommended that men who have sex with men consider taking a daily pill that prevents infection with the virus.

Let's not forget to include research monies spent on research and treatment for lung, mouth, and throat cancer due to smoking and the use of tobacco products. AND REMEMBER HIV/AIDS is not a GAY DISEASE it can happen to anyone. Also it keeps coming up that gay marriage is being thrown in the face of straight people. Why is that any different from an non-smoker having to endure second hand smoke - or from someone who doesn't dip having to see someone spitting in a plastic bottle or on the ground in public. Ever seen all those cigarettes laying on the ground. Nasty! Now let those with the straight agenda start picking and choosing where research money etc is spent just like they think they can pick and choose which parts of the bible are applicable.

When Ruben Bermudez, 31, found out that he had HIV more than a decade ago, he didn't want to take his medicine. He went on treatment for a few weeks, but said the intensive pill regimen made him feel dizzy.
He stopped treatment and tried to ignore the diagnosis, moving to Florida from Washington in pursuit of sunshine. In 2008, he learned that one of his best friends died of a brain tumor that couldn't be treated because his immune system has been debilitated by AIDS. Bermudez realized that his only chance at a relatively healthy life would depend on taking pills daily.
"With his passing I decided to wake up and take control of my health and my life," Bermudez says. "Because at that point my HIV was spiraling way downhill. I should have been dead."
But the pills for HIV that he's taken daily since then have come with a hefty price tag. Monthly HIV treatment regimens range from $2,000 to $5,000 much of it for drugs. With the life expectancy for HIV patients increasing, the lifetime cost of treatment in today's terms is estimated at more than half-million dollars.

New Guidelines For Gay Men: A Daily Anti-HIV Pill
The pill is expensive in the United States, where the drug alone costs over $10,000 annually, without counting add-ons such as the regular HIV testing and monitoring for side effects that it requires.
