The difference between tobacco and opioids is that tobacco takes longer to kill you and is therefore much more expensive. Put in perspective opioids might be preferable, after all they do contribute to reducing the surplus population. Whereas tobacco takes years before the user's demise and is a considerable financial burden on health services.

The Biden administration has been floating a ban on menthol cigarettes for months. Now they are apparently thinking of putting off the ban until after the election because they are worried about losing the support of black voters, although that is already happening.

It's just one more reminder that this administration, and Democrats on the whole, care only about politics and retaining power. Everything they say and do is motivated by poll numbers and who they can manipulate into voting for them.

Not only that, but isn't it a little bit racist to assume that only black people smoke menthol cigarettes?

If you watch how at his "rallies" he encourages his lackeys to shout fascist slogans and give the Nazi salute. If you watch how his storm troopers manhandle and throw people that disagree with him (a la 1930's Germany) out of his "rallies" If you had watched the video of the insurrection he incited in DC, not the Faux News version but the one that ALL including foreign networks aired, you know the ones that Nancy Pelosi had "edited."

f*xxy, leaps and bounds have been made in research on lung cancer and associated diseases since the Clinton era. I suggest you do some research as to where that money has been allocated. I'm bot trying to put negativity on either cigs or pot. Both are from plants. Make them totat legal and unregulated so you can grow you own at home. Keep big business and government out of it.

But here's the thing. Grow yoyr own. No sharing or selling. If you want to make money off of tobacco or cannabis, it will be made in the secondary market for seeds, equipment, educational media and the like.

Banning cigarettes, even just the menthol ones, could lead to the legal problems we see with marijuana.

Taxing is the only way to go, tax tobacco high enough and many will quit. Use the revenue from tobacco tax for pulmonary disease research. As a former smoker with COPD, I wish tobacco had been taxed out of reach before my stupidity caused this disease.

Tobacco kills more people than opioids. That being said, I think prohibition generally is pretty useless.
