Foothills has a huge tasting room and brewery works on Kim well.

I am at juggheads several times a week...the good thing is they only feature NC beers...

GO Wilkes, you owe yourself a trip to Juggheads on Country Club Rd in Winston, or Foothills Brewery downtown Winston.

Darlin, $30 is nothing. Some German made growlers sell easily over $100. They also include co2 to keep beer fresh. But I still don't get it.

Lowe's has a new growler. It's metal. A bit pricey at $29.99 bit it's larger and can be used for hot beverages, as well.

FYI, the Beer Den at Lowes Foods on 421 just tapped a new keg of Duclaw's Sweet Baby Jesus (the chocolate-peanut butter porter that we discussed earlier).

I doubt it lasts long, but now is the perfect time to go by and get a sample. I love this one in the bottle, but it's even better from tap!

Time is limited, but I'm hoping to write a review in the near future for Highland's Black Mocha Stout, AMB's Smokey Mountain schwarz, and AMB's Baba Budan coffee IPA.

I'll definitely give it a taste if I can find it. I liked the idea of Dragon's Milk, I just didn't love the flavor, so it would be good to find one that's similar but a bit less oaky.

FYI, I tried the Thrilla in Vanilla porter a few days ago. That's the one that I mentioned trying on tap, but was hesitant to buy the $10 bottle. I'll write a review on it as soon as I get a chance.

Dragons Milk is barrel aged, giving it similar smokey flavors as aged whiskey. Wrath is more an infused flavor, specifically using bourbon. From the reviews I have read, and heard on the radio, they have similar traits but are also very different.

That sounds similar to the Dragon's Milk beer, which is a bourbon blend. I've described that one before, and I think that the oaky flavor of the bourbon takes away from the taste.

HOWEVER! I was able to try it on draught recently, as opposed to bottle, and I have to admit that it made a world of difference.

If you insist on beer, at least drink Damented Wrath (from Demented Brewing). Bourbon flavored beer, for when you have to be sober.

I mentioned before that I'm not really an IPA guy; it's way too hoppy for my tastes. But I tried a beer at Prime Thai tonight (in Elkin) that was a "red pale ale", and I thought it might be worth discussing.

The name of the beer was Red Seal Ale. At first I thought it was a North Carolina brew, but then I noticed that the brewery was in Fort Bragg, California.

It was just a little hoppy, but it wasn't overpowering like (I think) most IPAs are. Instead, I could taste a bit of caramel and malt that blended well with the hops. Overall, I thought it had a great flavor, and it paired well with the stir-fried Thai food.

So if you're like me and think that IPAs are just too strong in flavor, and porters are maybe a tad heavy for hotter weather, this might be a good summertime beer to try.

If I'm comparing ALL beers, I would give this a 3 out of 5; I would definitely drink it again, but I probably wouldn't choose it over a good stout or porter unless I'm pairing it with food. But as compared to other beers in the pale ale style, I think it's better than most that I've tried so I would give it 4 out of 5 in its class.

Yesterday a guy told me about a doctor who told him that in order to keep kidney stones flushed to drink 3-4 beers per week. He drank 2 that night and passed 2 kidney stones...way cheaper than surgery.
