No! But if you see an ugly messican with some pretty collies, say hi.

Are you suggesting I am a dog?

I don't believe I used the word gross. I believe what I've danced around due to your own restrictions is, ****.

I have no problem with a good...(GOOD!) Pilot Grigio and a salad.

I love wine. I like beer. I like the beers that don't have any infused flavors. If the Stout or Porter I am drinking gets its nose and flavor through the the brewing process, and from its normal ingredients, I like it...don't give me any flavored beer.

Glitter...Foothills has a tasting room off of Stratford in Winston-Salem, and they do flights....Juggheads on Coubtry6Club Rd., has a really impressive selection of NC beers, and they do flights.

Both of these places are dog friendly.

I may just be a lush or maybe I just get full quick. But it's either/or for me on most occasions. I like wine with dinner but if I'm partaking, I really don't want to waste my alcohol with food and I don't care for a beverage with dessert unless it's coffee five hours later.

Actually, now a days, most consider white wine (like a Grigio) to be beginners level. It's for sorority girls and the boys picked last in gymn class.

I respectfully disagree. I think it's all about complementing flavors. You probably wouldn't drink a Pinot Grigio with a steak, just like you probably wouldn't drink a chocolate peanut butter stout with a steak. But it's not because Pinot Grigio is bad, it's just not complementary.

I would suggest that, before you post on this subject any further, you go buy a Duclaw's chocolate peanut butter stout and pair it with a dark chocolate cake or brownie. If you still think it's gross then you're more than welcome to come back and tell me all about it. But, for lack of a better euphemism, don't knock it 'til you try it

Wine is a totally different beast. It is made from fruit. Dry reds also take experience to drink, like true stouts. At the other end is why white wine is referred to as debutant heroine.

Dry red wines, served at fine dining establishments, often have fruit and vanilla flavors. I've had chocolate-infused wine, too, although I don't think I've ever had one infused with peanut butter.

I said I have no use for it. Not that I don't know it. if you've got to put fruit and candy flavors in it, it's not real.

thx! Can't wait to check that out!

Af, I would say that's an uninformed comment If you don't drink beer then you really don't understand.

Porters and stouts have a distinct coffee taste, so the ones we're discussing have additional flavors that complement the coffee. And they are specifically designed to complement certain foods; eg, a chocolate stout complements a chocolate cake or brownie.

Which Lowes foods? The one on 421?

Yep. They've moved the wine section around so that there's now a bar and a few tables, and they're selling both beer and wine by the glass. They also have a permit so that you can shop and take your drink with you.

I have no use for beer. But if you have to flavor it with chocolate, vanilla and peanut butter to drink it, then you should be wearing a dress and sitting around with the rest of the girls talking about house wives of Orange County. Next thing you are going to say is you play fantasy football

I've done the flights at Boondock's and found a chocolate stout I fell in love with but I seem to miss it each time I go.

I'm excited about this Lowe's thing.

That's a great question, Glitter, but I don't think any of the local ones do. Lowes might start, since I understand that breweries will be doing demonstrations on Thursdays, but I'm not sure.

Which of these bars/restaurants do flights?

Af, I used to feel the same way, which is why beer is a fairly recent thing for me. Up until the last year or so I'd only had mass produced beers like Budweiser, and always felt like it was just urine-flavored water! LOL But stouts and porters... a whole 'nother story. If you haven't tried one, you should.

I've noticed a lot of nicer restaurants have started carrying porters and stouts, which was pretty rare a few years ago. I don't know if I'm ahead of the game on this one, or just starting to catch up.

Grr, I have a friend that loves IPA, too, but so far I just haven't been able to handle it. There's one that I thought went OK with Thai food, and it had a citrus flavor to it, but that's the only one I've been able to stomach. From what I can tell, though, pretty much everyone either loves or hates IPA; there's few in between.

I have yet to go to the Dispensary, so that's good to know! I've gotten in to a rut of going to Dooley's for dinner a few times through the week, and the rare chance I get to go out on a weekend is usually spent at 6th & Main where I know the people and know what to expect. I'll have to find time to go to the Dispensary one evening when it's not crowded.

Jupiter, I just saw that, too! They close the bar at 8, though, which will make it kind of hard for me to ever get there. I saw they had the Thrilla in Vanilla on tap, though, so that will be a good chance to try it without spending a lot of money on it.

One beer a week? I spill more than that.

That's obvious to the most casual observer!
