I'm glad they're attempting to crack down on speeding but taking it to 1 MPH over is crazy. Not sure about now but 5 MPH Over used to be the get by and it still should be. Giving someone a ticket for going 1 MPH over is carrying this a little to far simply because cars, calibrations and tires differ ever so slightly. It's always been left up to the HP officer and it still should be. Most of them just wouldn't write you a ticket for going 5 MPH over because they understood. You might get a warning or a good talking too but you didn't get cited. Hopefully they'll stick to that and continue that when this starts up.
That said, traffic violations are getting out of hand, you see it everyday. Someone running stop signs, they totally ignore the posted speed limits, they'll merge right on top of you or if you're trying to merge you can't because some people will absolutely Not let you merge.Even though they know people are going to be trying to merge because they have no choices, they'll still keep right on going even if they have to speed up to stop someone from merging.
A stop sign is a waste of money it seems because hardly anyone actually stops at a stop sign. Yield signs are ignored by some people all the time.
Traffic lights are ignored all the time. 18 North looks like a Drag Way. 268 East is just as bad thankfully though they're working on parts of that road forcing people to slow down some. A lot of people have complained repeatedly on this website about Litterbugs and garbage filled roadsides. That's a violation and hopefully this will curb the Litterbugs too!
Not so long ago right on this website a lot of people complained about the 421 Walmart Death Road. People got killed in cars, people got killed on motorcycles there and accidents happen very often in that area.
Some folks talked about a bypass but we know that will take years to complete or maybe not even happen. In the mean time are they just going to ignore that area? Not do anything? Nope doesn't look that way at least if they're making attempt to crack down on speeding even if it's state wide, maybe they'll post some HP in that area this summer and Save some lives maybe even get littering under control.
The state can post HP on 421 near Walmart a lot cheaper than they can build a bypass and they can do it for years for what it would cost to build a bypass.
IMO maybe folks should consider how many people have been killed or injured and think this Might save lives. It might save our lives and instead of complaining about it. Be glad at least they're doing something. Some folks complain because they don't see them doing something well this is your chance to see them doing something.
