It was ok. Decent enough adaptation of a 400 page action/mystery book. Not like the starting material was deep to start with.
I also thought Knight and Day was ok if you took it for the comedy it was and didn't compare it to his more serious (for lack of a better description) action films.

Okay. Was the movie any good?
Picture Mr. T and Angela Lansbury doing a movie together. Sounds terrible.

Jack Reacher is the main character in a literary series written by author Lee Child. Reacher is a retired army MP that now travels the country like a homeless bum and constantly stumbles into murders he has to solve. Picture A-Team crossed with Murder She Wrote. Fans of the series were upset about cruise being cast as Reacher because in the books he is described as 6' 5", 250lbs, and lighter hair.

A film no one heard of made almost $100 million...why in the world would he fire himself?
We've mentioned two movies, and he's up to nearly $500 million in profits? What was your point again?
Can you find a movie he participated in that didn't make money? I'll help: What about Knight and Day (I think that's the name)? That movie was terrible.

Jack Reacher was a 2012 film starring Tom Cruise. Budget plus Marketing for it was around 120 million, it brought in 218 million. Both Mission Impossible films and Jack Reacher films are Produced by Tom Cruise. He's not going to fire himself.....

If you're talking about MI: Rouge Nation, that would be a profit, by your admission, of around $400 million. I bet he can't show his face in Hollywood, huh? To add insult to injury, they're even making another one. Heck, they're even making another Jack Reacher, whatever that is.
If you're just trying to split hairs with semantics, read the Forbes article.

That's not a blockbuster for a film that's fair, budget plus marketing for the film was over 300 million

Mission Impossible though is already an established franchise. To be fair, pull numbers on some of his other films.

Rouge Nation, the last Tom Cruise Mission: Impossible movie, made close to $700,000,000 worldwide. It cost $150,000,000. I'm adding the zeroes for effect.
In other words, folks on here generally have no ****ing idea what they are talking about.

I largely agree with RockinRebel, entertainers who start pushing a political agenda whether that's Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, George Clooney, Tom Cruise or someone else it pretty much ensures they alienate the audience to the point folks start tuning out.
It's one reason Tom Cruise hasn't had a blockbuster in over a decade. He started pushing Scientology and stuff and folks tuned him out. He went from essentially an A-lister to today where he's probably a low B or high C.
