The main thing on your home network is to use at least WPA2-Personal (if all your devices can support it) and turn off the Wi-Fi Protected Setup, Remote Management, Wireless Access Web and QOS features on your router. And of course block Anonymous Internet Requests. A piece of tape over every camera lense is also a good idea. Don't open any email attachment or click on any links unless you trust them and have hovered over them to see the extension type or actual address. And if you click on something that claims you need a special viewer would you like to install it now, you had better not. ¥

I am serious with my question even though I'm kidding around and I thank you for your input. My son downloaded a virus on my PC again after I told him not to download any games on it. Last time I had my computer put back to default so it was like new. The problem is I have a bunch of PLC software downloaded that is worth a lot more than the computer. Most of the software is piracy protected and it's a pain if you have to get another copy.

Anything you have to reinstall etc. usually means a reboot which also means you lose connection to the client pc and there goes another 15 to 30 minutes to reestablish connection.

I have used TeamViewer where the other person can watch what I am doing on their computer. Mostly for friends tho with easy computer issues.

Anyone you allow to remotely access your pc should be a person you would trust with all the info on your pc. They should be able to furnish you at the very least a clean criminal background check.

The only real down side I can see is if I let lets say Crypt access my laptop he can easily add an access port were he can go through my PC without me knowing. Crypt you seem smart and devious enough to do that LOL just joking but could you do that and how can that be done if you don't mind me asking?

Normally there is a 1 time only access. If you use 2 nd access you get a new password each time.I have used a local guy a couple times.No problems.

I would like to hear what everyone thinks but I had GW's Jason in mind when I thought about this. Has anyone thought about or knows someone that works on fixing customers computers on line? Were I work the IT department accesses the companies servers from their home before they come in to work. They tell me that as long as it's not a hardware issue they can patch it from their home saving them a trip.
