Digital Pictures - Question...

That does sound like an error on your memory card. Error scanning may have just been a temporary fix, though, so after you get everything moved you might want to consider buying a new card.

Update: I may have stumbled across the solution. I put the memory card into my laptop, which shows up as the "I" drive on my computer, then, did a defrag of the "I" drive. Pictures that weren't showing and importing are now doing so, with the exception of a few from 2 specific days.

Keeping fingers crossed that this is a permanent fix because moving small groups at a time is very taxing and I can now move bigger groups of pics as I could before. Hope this is helpful to others, and, I do appreciate all the responses from those of you trying to help.

Moving one other thing I have done. I put the memory card back into the camera and USB to computer and download. I turned the camera on. Good luck!

I can move them in smaller groups but I have so many it will take forever.

You're correct, I meant to move them to the C drive first. I wouldn't go directly to the root, though; make a directory like:

C:/temp/

If you've tried that and had an error after one specific picture, follow Fins' advice and try moving them in small groups until you find the picture that's causing the problem.

Move them in smaller groups. Its a PIA, but will let you figure out which file is the problem.

Back in the day....

I had one picture that use to trigger my anti-virus. A particular series of bytes matched a footprint.

GoWilkes, when you say directory do mean move them to "c" drive first? I've been taking them straight off the card and "I" drive.

I did try moving them straight to my "c" drive and as soon as it encountered one picture that wouldn't import the other way, it froze up.

BRG, I tried that fix earlier before I came on here to ask questions and after running it, it said that my problem was resolved. It lied...

There seems to be a patch for the photo gallery for every version of Windows except 7...which is what I have.

I have had issues with some of my cards. Since I try to use same brand ,size, etc.check the card closely for debris.

Can you move the photos to a different directory on your hard drive, then try importing them to WPG afterward?

This would definitively show whether the problem is with the memory card.

Are all the cards the same ? Or variations of the such?

2 are SanDisk. one imported, the second one didn't.

3 are PNY Optima, 2 imported, one won't.

Some are 16G, some 8G, some 4G. At least one of each size imported.

All the cards are SDHC. The first 3 worked fine. Still have 3 more to go.

Also keep in mind that digital cameras can also take a photo and it can be corrupted.
