In the girls . It can be done.. Both 2a and 1a As for the Boys It will NEVER be done in 2a and in 1a as Long as they have Charter schools it will not be done... Our local 2a teams look all high and mighty beating up on the 1a teams in conference, then go up against descent 2a teams in playoffs and THE END!!

That's what I think also ,, that the conference overall a little on weak side ,,, that's for boys and girls basketball ,, but to show you what I know the last time I said that a team from the conference was playing for state championship not long after I made that statement ,,,

All teams had great seasons and have a good shot at getting past the first round opponents. I do feel however they will all bow out at some point sooner than later. After getting a good look at every team in the dance from our conference, I just don't see any championship caliber teams state wide, just locally tough.

I'm sorry the Kid that you wanted didn't win POY.. But she did get All-Conference?? Didn't see her at the announcement.. Why would you bash and call out another girl calling her a Joke Really!!!.. She was Voted POY by the conference coaches.. They all work hard , What's really a Joke is for someone to say its political for Purdue to win it . LOL!!

Who's beating up teenagers , I personally don't see that ,, and besides how can I be anti central when I agree with central Dad on his questions,, my gosh this is discussion not drama ,, Iam curious myself about a few things with POY .. Don't see this as anybody beating up on anybody

Well now you've gone from it should be the leading stat girl to a deserving Sr.

Make up your mind and tell us your agenda....

You're avoiding that for some reason.

I'm telling you, Thomas probably finished no higher than 4th!!!

She's a good player but we're discussing POY here in this thread and she isn't in the conversation.

That would make you wrong as well blue? Your logic is unsubstantial. Co-champs is still champs, last I checked so I would still be correct.

Everyone always pulls against WC in this conference. It's common knowledge and for grown men to berate teenagers is the very definition of irony. Baseball is looking like a lock for Central as well. Conference champs in football, basketball and baseball. I wonder why everyone pulls against WC.

Central dad I am guessing but did you watch the game at central when Thomas beat them by herself? Even the paper for Wilkes bragged on her. Are you seriously gonna tell me that Lexi pardue is better than McNeil, because she isn't better than her either. Although I thought Thomas would get it, she didn't but it should of went to a senior that actually deserved it, those girls have worked hard for what they should of received, not a junior who really just has post moves. I pretty sure jolly does a better job then pardue, it's all politics.

Don't understand how Iam wrong(usausausa) you were the one who said that WC was JV champs now you say cochamps , looks like you were incorrect and corrected yourself

Regal I realize that this was a tough night for you. losing is not easy but most of us adults realize it is part of life. All that grizzly bear as you like to call him has accomplished is a 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 1st place finish in this conference over the last 4 years while coaching at the second smallest school in the conference. Not only has he been successful in wins and loses, he runs his program in such a way that produces young men that there parents can be proud of on and off the court. This award is voted on by the coaches, and there is no greater reward in life than having the respect of your peers. And just for the record, that grizzly bear of a coach is really a teddy bear if you actually knew him. Any idea why every fan of every other school was pulling for North? If you need help answering that one, you have some issues with reality.

Remember when you answer, your reasoning was STATS for thinking Thomas should have won!

You claimed before she compiled any stats that she would win, hands down.

There's a reason for what you're arguing!

time2see, just curious....

You stated on 12/7 before Elkin played their first conference game that ladies POY would be Kylie Thomas from Elkin for sure, she scored her 1000th point the second game of the year....

So you had your mind made up who POY would be before the season even started...Why?

What does career points have to do with 2017 conference POY?

You have an agenda or are her parents, or both. Why?

Again, just curious, its obvious there's an agenda.

The elkin girl is a good player, but I'd say she finished 4th AT BEST in the POY voting.

She is the best player on her team and I don't know how many times you've seen her but she gets more than half her points playing at the top of their zone defense and leaking out for uncontested layups.

If she isn't making uncontested layups or driving to the basket in the half court set, then she's not all that on offense. There's no jump shot to speak of.

Good player but no way she even came close to being named POY.

You would be incorrect in that regard, blue. North and Central were co-champs in JV but considering the 4 sophomores that start on varsity for WC I would be extremely confident in saying that WC has a much more talented underclassmen core. Considering that and WC still managing to win conference without those 4 boys, WCs JV season was significantly more impressive. Of course that's just my opinion and it means little.

Blue49

Traditional POY goes to a player who's team had success also and yes usually reg season champs

time2see

The one with the best stats goes to elkin, just like last year the one with the best stats received it, someone tell me what Lexi pardue has done to deserve it? Other than the fact that Wilkes county coaches came together and decided to make sure that she got it this year so Phillips gets it next year, I put 100 on it Phillips gets it next year, not saying she doesn't deserve it because she honestly should of got it over pardue if they where going to pick a junior. And my basketball knowledge is perfectly fine.

central_dad_and_cheer

Time2see who are some of those players besides Phillips you think should have gotten the POY award?

Scoring is not the criteria for the award, if it was there's no need for the coaches to vote, just go to the stats and pick the player at the top lol.

Its not a surprise at all Pardue got the award, nor would it have been if a North lady won the award.

Who is it you think should have gotten it?

I'm beginning to question your knowledge of the game to be honest.

Player of the Year doesnt always go to senior. You said yourself it goes to the best player, not necessarily on the best team. The best player isnt always the oldest player.
It could've gone to a few others that are not seniors. What senior do you think shouldve gotten it?

time2see

Posted 10:47 am, 02/18/2017

If we want to go by standings why didn't a girl from north get it, Emily Phillips deserved it more than Purdue if we want to choose juniors to receive POY

Time2see

Posted 10:43 am, 02/18/2017

She's a joke because she does not have the stats that other players have, poy is a individual award not what she did for her team, she isn't the only one on the team that caused them to win, she doesn't score all that many points, it should of been given to a senior, she did not deserve it.
