Then tell me why Alex Greer from west last year didn't get POY that average 25 or more a game?

I heard Kylie is going to miss a few games, hope its not a long time before she makes it back.

Also, did #34 get injured? I heard she did and I hope its nothing serious, but the Lady Elks are probably better without her. She's simply not athletic enough to play basketball.

She hurt them bad in volleyball as well.

Elklin has a couple athletes to put in her place that would make the team much better, obviously I'm speaking of when Thomas gets back to playing.

That is not a rule and has never been the rule . Coaches vote on who they feel is POY...doesn't have to be conference Champs.

Who ever when the conference will get player of the year.So if east wins the conference then somebody on east team will ge POY😎

Yes Pardue def #2. Especially after what happened last night without her.. Thomas just has the advantage to me . #1 she is a Sr (1000pts) #2 more range right now..

Also absolutely no one for WC will or could be POY(boys).. definitely a year away For that kind of honor,
Although they could win Conference. (With pretty much 3a numbers playing 1a # schools..)

If you leave Lexi Pardue from east wilkes out of the conversation for POY then you don't know basketball. She is the core of the east girls team and has 3 or 4 double doubles in a row. If she had played last night east would have beat central girls by 20. She's shooting about 80% from the line, shares the ball well and because of her inside dominance it opens up more shots for Tess and Lauren from the outside. She had 23 points and 14 rebounds against north which has a strong team inside and out. Pardue deserves to be in the top 3 for POY consideration.

I wasn't trying to short Kylie Thomas, she's a heck of a player and I' not sure why she isn't going to play at a small college somewhere, but that's her choice...

I agree she will be POY because 1) her outside shot is much improved over previous seasons and 2) Elkin may not win a game if she isn't playing, they don't have another good player on the team.

(Boys) Logan From East should be in POY conversation. If Wallis and Johnson had not bailed on East . along with what they already have . they would compete for conference title.. and Deep playoff run..

(Girls) Thomas( Elkin) hands down POY.. POY doesn't supposed to go to Best team.

Huffman for West. All that she has done for them the pass 3 years hands down.

She's a very good player and I wouldn't mind at all with her winning POY.

I'm just not sure she's got enough help on her team to finish higher than middle of the road in the conference.

Its not impossible to win POY from a .500 or less team but its difficult. Best of luck to her, she's a very good player.

Thomas played great and does have a great shot at POY. However, Elkin will need to finish In the top 3 to wrap up that award. Not sure if any other player will reach 1k points this year unless Huffman at West or McNeil/Gibbs at Central are getting close.

Elkin's K. Thomas beat Wilkes Central tonight by herself. She scored 35 pts.

hate to tell you central dad but Thomas will be POY, she has the stats to prove it and would of been it last year if it wasn't for Miracle Walters getting her 1000 points. BTW any other players close to getting there 1000

Thomas is a good player and she'll be all conference but she will be down the list on POY.

She might finish 4th or 5th in voting....

In the men's I'd have to go with Richardson.

35 isn't the best player on his team, let alone the MVAC! Brooks is way better IMO!

Richardson from NW should be POY or his teammate Wallis.

POY for girls will be Kylie Thomas for sure from Elkin, she just got her 1000 points in the second game of season.

Sounds like there has been some real improvements at Wilkes Central. Or overzealous fans or both. Did they have someone move in? Not being a Central fan I only know Johnson and Brooks by name. Which player is Shumate?

Lady Viking, I actually agree with your statement that individual players should focus on the team concept and nothing more. However, we are not players. Speaking for myself, I have not been one in many years, and actually find myself an old bald headed guy that just loves high school basketball, and loves to talk about it. Really struggling to see how non players having an opinion based discussion is so wrong. Have you ever been to a barber shop? Opinions especially sports related ones are all that you hear in there. Again I agree that players should be focused on the team concept, but how do fans from Jefferson to Yadkinville talk about their teams and players without this discussion? This is an opportunity for those FANS to brag on their team and yes individual players that they get to watch. Again, I just dont get your problem with it, but in reality I guess I dont need to.
